⛷️ PLACE: SIX SENSES CRANS-MONTANA
Apres Ski and wellness at this luxury Swiss resort
By Iona Paulet
Ski season is here, especially in the Swiss mountains. With a strong presence in Europe with Six Senses Ibiza, Six Senses Douro Valley (Portugal) and soon Six Senses London, the brand has also settled in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.
After opening in February 2023, the resort enjoys a prime position just above the main gondola in Crans. This traditional slope-side mountain is a sanctuary where vitality and serenity meet adventure. The “Best of the Alps” resort is celebrated worldwide for its champagne skiing, stylish cultural center, gourmet restaurants and shopper’s paradise of luxury brands.
Year round, you’ll find exciting activities in the city: Crans-Montana has a legacy of being a renowned outdoor sports destination, with signature events such as the Ski World Cup, Mountain Bike World Cup, Omega European Masters, other championships, the Caprices Festival and more. You’ll find Six Senses Crans-Montana directly on the slopes, anchored into the rocks, from which it emerges with its open terraces and decks, offering breathtaking views of Valais' iconic peaks, including the Weisshorn and Mont Blanc.
The American group Vail Resorts recently acquired the resort. For those who don’t know, Vail is a network of the best ski resorts in the world including Vail Mountain, Breckenridge, Park City, Whistler Blackcomb, Stowe, and 32 additional resorts across North America, Andermatt-Sedrun in Switzerland, and Perisher, Hotham, and Falls Creek in Australia. With one epic pass, guests can get access to every location. Vail Resorts also plans to include access to Crans-Montana Mountain Resort on select Epic Pass products for the 2024-25 ski and ride season.
After skiiing, the resort’s Alpine Lounge awaits you as you come off the piste, greeted by their Ski Concierge. Let them take the weight off you with ski storage, valet and tuning services. They'll dry any wet clothes while you warm up and unwind in the comfort of the lounge serving hot and cold drinks. If you’re just starting out, speak to their ski school team to arrange lessons and personalized programs.
Six Senses Crans-Montana also features two restaurants, a bar and lounge as well as an outside rooftop pool with refreshments and poolside snacks available throughout the day. Chefs work with local producers and suppliers who are committed to responsible sourcing, quality, and seasonality. The hotel produces its own honey, while the milk and other ingredients come from neighboring farms. The quality of the food here in Switzerland is simply unmatchable.
Every detail here is so well thought of, aligned with Six Senses’ main pillars: wellness and sustainability. Restore at theSpa, which blends high-tech biohacking with high-touch therapies. The 2000m2 spa is where wellness is taken to the next level. Whether high intensity or completely horizontal, the ultimate aim is that you greet each day not just ready to ski mountains but to move them. Join the retreats and reconnect with a happy, playful, healthier new you. Seasonal programs will vary at the resort, starting with spiritual fitness, meditation, and tools for a better life.

A truly sensory experience, you’ll feel the textures and smell the wonderful aromas of the fresh, seasonal and organic ingredients. A separate spa exists for children and teenagers provides treatments adapted for younger guests.
With 77 guest rooms and suites and a three-bedroom prestige apartment, this authentic Swiss chalet feel has been remodeled into a contemporary and airy style, with high ceilings and smart and sustainable architecture. Large bay windows maximize the connection to the natural surroundings to the back and left-to-right Alpine views. The bathroom is like a cabin in the woods with stone-faced walls and subtle decorative glass panels that play on the light shining through. Bespoke furniture completes the experience, with the solid woods and natural fabrics used throughout.
A final word about Sustainability, a big pillar at Six Senses. At Six Senses Crans-Montana, they seek to push the boundaries of sustainability, from their approach to mindful architecture and efficient engineering, to local sourcing and unforgettable guest experiences.
Fun Fact - you’ll be able to learn new tips and tricks to become more sustainable at home. In the Earth Lab, a space of innovation, featuring fun & quirky zero-waste workshops easily emulated back home, from up-cycled candles made from used-kitchen oil, to flying seed bombs used to re-work the hotel’s surroundings.
A bunch of retreats will be open for bookings in 2024, stay updated with the hotel’s happenings via website & social media. For group bookings / retreats enquiries, please reach out to sales-cransmontana@sixsenses.com
