The true panache of the South of France.

Imagine an orange sunset and youβre sipping an Aperol Spritz, while tanning on a sunbed: welcome to Antibes, South of France.Β Enter Hotel Cap Eden Roc, the iconic French Riviera hotel which has been attracting tourists and locals ever since its grand opening in 1870. Their heavenly setting above the rocks has captivated all at first sight. When Le Figaroβs founder, Auguste De Villemessant, first set eyes on βLe Capβ, he envisaged Villa Soleil, a place of inspiration for writers. Dashing Russian aristocrats Paul de Fersen, and then Alexis de Plestcheyeff, eventually brought his idea to life, and in 1870 Grand Hotel du Cap began its elegant history. It was visionary hotelier, Antoine Sella, who established a halcyon retreat for creative spirits and grand romantic encounters, the Riviera legend was born.Β
Take in the surroundings and you will see the seaside cabanas where Greta Garbo luxuriated, the sparkling blue waters where Kirk Douglas water-skied, the craggy rocks where Marc Chagall sketched and the iconic saltwater pool where countless stars have bathed.

A taste for travel often leads to a career in hospitality. Sophie Volant embarked on this career thanks to the many trips her parents took her on. A taste for other people is frequently the second deciding factor, and the sociability that characterizes Sophie Volant reinforced this choice. Proud of French excellence, it was to the Institut Paul Bocuse (now Institut Lyfe) that she turned. Her career landed her many roles at the HΓ΄tel de Crillon in Paris, working with Philippe Perd, the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, the New York Palace Hotel on Madison Avenue. Returning to Europe in 2007, she made a stopover in London, before landing on the French Riviera at the HΓ΄tel du Cap Eden Roc, where she has remained ever since. Philippe Perd, who runs the hotel, saw the value in her when she worked at the Crillon.
