New luxury blends with tropical island living at LUX Grand Baie Mauritius

Mauritius, just a 2-hour flight away from Madagascar, is an island like no other. This gorgeous lush tropical wonderland has over 700 species of indigenous plants — and often ranks among the best beach and honeymoon destinations in the world. English and French are the two most widely spoken languages on the island, while you can hear the locals converse in Mauritian Creole, a unique language deriving its structure from French with some African influences. Fun fact: The long-extinct Dodo bird was endemic to Mauritius. With the main island of Mauritius being the only known habitat of the flightless bird, it is still considered to be the national bird of Mauritius.
This fascinating and beautiful country has brought the LUX* group, which was founded a decade ago, to open a stunning resort named LUX* Grand Baie. Officially awarded 𝑴𝒂𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒖𝒔’𝑩𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑹𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒐𝒇 2023 at the 9th annual World Spa Awards, new luxury blends with tropical island living at LUX Grand Baie.
Located on the vibrant North coast of the island and on one of the most iconic beaches and gorgeous blue waters, LUX* Grand Baie is a stylish luxurious tropical hotel that opened in October 2021. Guests can choose from suites, villas, residences and penthouses, ranging from 65m2 (LUX* Junior Suites or LUX* Ocean Junior Suites) to 620m2 (LUX* Grand Beach Pool Villa).
Surrounded by the lush gardens by the beach, each 240 square meter villa comes with a heated swimming pool, a barbecue sundeck, a gazebo, a living room and a spacious dining area. The rooftop called Bisou (“kiss” in French) is heartwarming. Say hello to the island’s most coveted rooftop with an infinity pool, restaurant, and bar. Bisou is the promise of a really, really good time. The pool is 30 meters long where you can lounge and sip cocktails while lunch is served at your in-water table. Interiors have been beautifully designed by South African-born British designer Kelly Hoppen with an elegant colour palette, and a trendy chic vibe — the perfect mix between sophisticated and laidback island luxury.
