🛁 PLACE: REMEDY PLACE in FLATIRON
A medley of self-care and holistic wellness practices in an opulent sanctuary.
Remedy Place is “bringing hospitality back into healthcare.” As the world’s first social wellness club with 7,200 square feet in Flatiron District, members enter into a cavernous retreat outlined with walls clad of Venetian plaster, leather seats around a 12-ft potted tree in the middle of the room, and minimalist, subdued interiors. Designed by award-winning LA based interior design firm, Bells + Whistles, principal Barbara Rouke says when designing the space, that “Remedy Place is an immersive environment of design and tranquility for seekers of mind-body balance and relief from the stresses of life.”
The design inspiration behind Remedy Place is a part of what sets it apart from other centers. The artisanal sculptural decor, mix of masculine and feminine tones, and subdued colors are supposed to act as an antithesis to the traditional sterile hospital environment. The natural and neutral aesthetic, comes with sensuous fabrics like suede and soft leather to promote relaxation, from the delicate archways to plush sofas and ceramics, which all instill a layer of some intimacy and privacy, however the openness of the space as a whole encourages community and interaction. When you walk in, the communal bar is lined with healthy snacks positioned opposite a long table where you can find members having meetings, dates, or co-working.
"I wanted to create a club that positively enhances your physiology from the moment you walk in the door, from the aromatic rituals to the minimalistic and balanced design, materials, layout, furniture and lighting – it all has purpose behind it,” says Dr. Jonathan Leary, Founder of Remedy Place.
According to Dr. Leary, the environment is an important part of holistic healing and health, and is meant to have a positive effect on the member’s wellness. When building and conceptualizing Remedy Place, the design was core to the value of the business. Remedy Place’s two-story space is an adult wellness playground for the luxury wellness enthusiast who enjoys privacy, but also community with like-minded individuals. The club offers everything from chiropractic movement classes, acupuncture baths, vitamin drips, a lymphatic infrared sauna, ice baths, oxygen chambers, cryotherapy, red light therapy, and more. 🛁 PERSON: DR. JONATHAN LEARY
Founder and Visionary behind the “World’s First Social Wellness Club.”
Dr. Jonathan Leary created Remedy Place as a haven for holistic healing, to help “empower people with the tools and education they need to take their health in their own hands.” With a Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine, he became a private concierge doctor who used non-invasive, non-drug approaches to help his patients recover from pain and also avoid major surgery. He noticed throughout his years of practicing, that his patients also wanted a place that was designed to enhance their health and well-being, while also maintaining their need to be social. In 2019, Dr. Leary set to merge the two when he built a space to enhance health and well-being and promote community with the flagship location in West Hollywood, California. "Everything in the club, although you can do it by yourself, is designed to be experienced with someone else. We call it 'social self-care', and we believe human connection is the most important form of self-care so we offer experiences that are social substitutions. This is a new way to date, take meetings, hang out after work, have your birthday or even have a full-blown event." Dr. Leary said.

After sampling a couple of treatments at Soho Beach House, The EDITION hotel, and Remedy Place, I’m hooked and would highly recommend trying, especially if you’re athletic and need recovery, and/or you sit all day at a desk and need to increase blood circulation.
